Expanders

Expanders are custom-made orthodontic appliances used to gently widen the upper jaw, helping to create more space for teeth to align correctly. At Angle House Orthodontics, we may recommend an expander if your child has a narrow palate, crowded teeth, or a developing crossbite. By gradually expanding the upper jaw, we can guide facial growth, improve bite function, and in many cases, reduce the need for future extractions or complex treatment.

Expanders are most effective during childhood or early adolescence, when the jaw is still growing. However, some adults may also benefit from expansion as part of a broader treatment plan.
